Deep in the forests of Hiptopia, one brave explorer goes where no man has gone before, photographs what no man has seen, and thrift shops where only vintage dwells. These are the continuing adventures of Dr. Josie, a woman amongst hipsters in the mist. This is where the story begins.

My team of Hiptopian Exploration experts have informed me that this photograph was taken along the western coast of Hiptopia at The Archway of the Moss and Birch. Legend states that in the early days of Hiptopia, when the land was ruled by King Araloctopius, a path of solid onyx stones led travelers under the arch and to one of the King’s many hidden palaces, Le Chateau de La Chouette D’or. The archway was guarded by two enchanted owls whose feathers were adorned with braids of golden silk, and they would offer the traveler a series of indecipherable riddles spoken in the long-dead language of Hiptopia’s most ancient tribes. If one could make sense of the riddles or find another way to persuade the avian guards, sometimes with a performance of an obscure song or poem, one would be allowed to pass beneath the arch and continue to the palace, where a welcome party of servants and singing squirrels greeted their new house guest. As of now, Hipthropologists have yet to find the ruins of the castle or the grand tomb of King Araloctopius, but an expedition from here at Obscure Outpost plans to resume the search this summer.
